Robert T. Heinemann began his career in the civil service, working for a district administration for more than 10 years before moving to Bielefeld University as Head of the Faculty of Law. During this time, he also taught on a part-time basis, particularly in law-related subjects. His next career move took him into the banking sector, where he worked for 15 years in both the public and private banking sectors. During these years, Robert T. Heinemann gained significant international experience in Europe, Asia and the Americas. In the early 2000s, he headed the London branch of a German bank as Executive Vice-President and Chief Executive Officer.

He has been working in the field of Human Resources/People & Culture for more than three decades. Fifteen years ago, he founded his own consultancy firm, based in Munich. Robert T. Heinemann’s consultancy work focuses on HR strategy advice for medium-sized companies, the majority of which also operate internationally. His work to date has taken him to many European countries, as well as to Asia, Africa and the Americas. Since 2023, he has been using a Culture of Innovation Survey . Through this approach, he helps his clients to place a much greater focus on innovation, thereby making them more attractive as employers and demonstrably retaining more talent within the company whilst attracting new talent.

To this day, Robert T. Heinemann continues to take on interim roles as CHRO/Global Head of HR, enabling him to remain closely connected to the practical side of the business. Since 2018, he has been a member of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) through his consultancy firm, where he also serves as Chair of the HR Working Group. In 2021 and 2022, he worked for the association as interim COO in Paris.
